WS — Item # 5 <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />Work Session Item No. 5 <br />Date: November 6, 2017 <br />To: City Council <br />From: Michael Grochala, Community Development Director <br />Re: Comprehensive Plan Update — Land Use and Housing Plans <br />Background <br />Staff has been working with the consultant team and the Planning & Zoning Board to prepare the <br />Land Use and Housing plan elements of the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. Representatives from <br />Landform, our consulting planner will be present to discuss: <br />1. Proposed Changes to the Future Land Use Plan and Development staging Plan <br />2. Compliance with Metropolitan Council regional planning policies including: <br />a. Responding to the growth forecasts <br />b. Meeting goals for overall development density; and <br />c. Accommodating the city's share of the regional affordable housing need. <br />As we have previously discussed, proposed changes to the plan are fairly minimal and it appears <br />we are meeting both our overall density and affordable housing goals. <br />Requested Council Direction <br />Discussion Only.
