• Two stakeholder focus group input sessions on March 27, 2014, <br />including: <br />Session 1: Wargo volunteers & other nature center/outdoor recreation <br />professionals. <br />Session 2: Wargo visitors and homeschool parents, and representatives <br />from the Anoka County Library Department. <br />• A stakeholder questionnaire conducted in winter/spring 2014, available <br />online and as hard copy. <br />• Four hands-on work sessions with Anoka County Staff held, April 21, <br />2014, May 7, 2014, June 10, 2014, and October 7,2014. <br />• Peer group planning session on July 15, 2014 with the core project <br />team and representatives from the Minnesota History Center, Eastman <br />Nature Center, Minnesota Naturalist Association, Minnesota Landscape <br />Arboretum, and Westwood Hills Nature Center. <br />• Presentation of the master plan development at the Minnesota <br />Recreation & Park Association Annual Conference on September 24, <br />2014, by the core project team. <br />• Presentation by HKGi staff of draft plan to Anoka County Parks and <br />Community Services Committee on October 7, 2014. <br />MASTER PLAN ORGANIZATION <br />The Wargo Nature Center Master Plan is organized into 5 Chapters. <br />• Chapter 1 -Introduction covers the master plan purpose and process <br />• Chapter2- Trends explores demographic, social, recreation, and nature <br />center trends <br />• Chapter 3- Existing Conditions and Needs discusses existing programs, <br />marketing efforts, natural resources, and amenities, their condition and <br />future needs <br />• Chapter4 - The Plan - outlines the vision for Wargo Nature Center as well <br />as supporting goals, strategies and recommend physical improvements <br />that support the vision. <br />• Chapter 5 -Implementation covers actions, phasing, costs, and funding <br />sources needed to realize the vision for Wargo Nature Center. <br />Hardscape and Softscape <br />The Wargo Nature Center master plan is unique in that it does <br />not just guide physical improvement, or `hardscape' but also <br />addresses marketing, programs, and operations, or `softscape'. <br />Wargo Nature Center Master Plan - March 2015 <br />The peer group planning session on July 15 included a <br />site tour for participants <br />The peergroup discussion included programming and <br />marketing <br />Chapter 1: Introduction 3 <br />
