PROGRAM <br />DESCRIPTION <br />Outreach <br />School Forest partnership with Oneka and Linwood <br />Elementary Schools <br />Outreach in partnership with Connexus Energy <br />• 16,300 students served in 2014 <br />Anoka County Library Partnership <br />• Over 800 students on two campuses (Oneka <br />Elementary and Hugo Elementary) and over 400 at <br />Linwood Elementary <br />• A Wargo naturalist visits each classroom in the school <br />once per season (fall, winter, and spring) <br />• Music and local authors at public events <br />Rentals <br />Birthday Parties, weddings, community gatherings <br />• Space rental <br />Special Events <br />Special Events <br />• Snow Day, Ski by the Light of the Moon, Kids Fishing <br />Clinic, Bunker Prairie Stampede 5K, Earth Day <br />Celebration, Fall Fest <br />Needs <br />One of the biggest challenges for programming is the need <br />to keep it dynamic; programs must periodically change to <br />reflect evolving trends and participant interests.To maintain <br />successful programs, fill offered programs to capacity, and <br />grow participation there is a need to: <br />• Expand and enhance the existing program evaluation <br />system, including improving participant and volunteer <br />questionnaires, and annual stakeholder focus groups, <br />tracking programs with waiting lists and new program <br />topic requests. <br />• Increase teen and adult program participation. <br />• Expand volunteer and service learning programs. <br />• Develop distinct programs based on unique park <br />assets and facilities. <br />• Improve self -guided interpretation opportunities. <br />• Continue to monitor and adapt programs based on <br />recreation and education trends, education standards, <br />and participant interests. <br />Wargo Nature Center Master Plan - March 2015 <br />Wargo special events such as the Bunker Prairie Stampede 5K are well attended <br />Wargo offers programs for homeschool students, and should target that group of <br />users for special marketing efforts <br />
