A prominent entry sign along Highway 14 will <br />improve the visibility of Wargo <br />A striped lane for bicycles and pedestrians will <br />promote the shared -use of the entry road <br />Water trail wayfinding would increase connectivity to <br />Wargo Nature Center via George Watch Lake <br />GOALS & STRATEGIES <br />Goal #1: <br />Increase awareness of Wargo Nature Center and County -wide outdoor <br />recreation and environmental education programs and events <br />Strategies: <br />1. Add prominent and welcoming signage: <br />a. At the main entrance on Highway 14 that is reflective of Wargo's vision <br />as a place to interact with nature <br />b. That is visible from Interstate 35W northwest of the prairie <br />c. At the entrance to the Heritage Lab area, promoting the use of the <br />walking/hiking trails east of Highway 14 <br />d. At the Peltier Lake boat launch to indicate to boaters the location of the <br />Nature Center on George Watch Lake <br />2. Improve Wargo's digital presence on the web with video, an Instagram feed, <br />smart phone apps, etc <br />3. Improve marketing: <br />a. Work with the Anoka County Public Information Office to improve <br />awareness of programs and events <br />b. Conduct additional special events to increase awareness <br />c. Expand cross and target marketing (home schools, other nature centers, <br />cities, partner organizations, YMCA, etc) <br />d. Create an -on line video of Wargo activities to give potential visitors a <br />sense of what the site and programs have to offer <br />e. Direct e-mail market to past visitor and program participants <br />Goal #2: <br />Increase connectivity to Wargo Nature Center <br />Strategies: <br />1. Create a non -motorized trail / boardwalk connection to the YMCA and Lino <br />Lakes <br />2. Improve the pedestrian and bicycle connection along the entry drive to the <br />Central Anoka County Regional Trail <br />3. Establish the water trail between Wargo Nature Center and the Rice Creek <br />Chain of Lakes Regional Park Reserve campground: <br />a. Provide maps at Wargo, the campground, and on-line <br />b. Expand canoe and kayak rentals to the campground <br />Goal #3: <br />Improve the entry experience and sense of welcome, from CSAH 14 to the <br />building <br />Strategies: <br />1. Create nature experience pullouts along the entry road that are accessible <br />after hours, adding a few parking spaces and interpretation at the compost <br />site and prairie <br />
