COUNCIL MINUTES December 28, 2015 DRAFT 4 136 The representative explained his involvement with this program that helps communities be their best 137 in terms of providing assistance to military members and their families. He himself served in the 138 military and is well aware of the value of this work. The structure of this in the City is the formation 139 of a steering committee to guide the work with that group reporting to the city council. That steering 140 committee is already functioning and has been active with five meetings already held. There is a 141 Facebook page established, an email address and a link to the group from the City’s Public Safety 142 Department web page. He noted the involvement of Anoka County Commissioner Rhonda Sivarjah 143 and her assistance in providing critical links to Anoka County and its services. He encourages 144 anyone in the community who is interested to get involved with the group, including businesses, 145 education and those involved with youth programming. They are planning their first veterans’ 146 network event, a dinner to be held at St. Joseph’s church. 147 148 Mayor Reinert thanked the group and pledged his continued involvement.
