CITY COUNCIL
AGENDA ITEM 4A

STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Swenson, Public Safety Director

MEETING DATE: July 24, 2017

TOPIC: Sale of Fire Apparatus (E11)

VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5

INTRODUCTION

The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department is requesting Council approval to sell a 1995 Ford
Custom Fire Rescue Pumper (VIN 1FDYS82E4SVA72034), Lino Lakes Engine 11, to the
Ellsburg Volunteer Fire Department (EVFD).

BACKGROUND

As part of the Council discussion in 2016 regarding the purchase of the current A21 and
the build-out of the second engine, staff was directed to evaluate the engines at both fire
stations and A11 to determine what apparatus would be rotated out of the fire fleet once
the new engines and A21 were in-service. At a Work Session on July 5, 2017 staff
recommended the sale of both 1995 Ford Custom Fire Rescue Pumpers (E11 and E21).

Based on this recommendation, Engine 11 and Engine 21 were listed for sale. On July
17, 2017 we received an offer from the EVFD located in Cotton, Minnesota to purchase
one of the 1995 Ford Custom Fire Rescue Pumpers (E11, City Shop #601, with mileage of
74,623) in the amount of $33,500.00. It should be noted that the City of Lino Lakes
purchased E11 from the City of Woodbury in 2014 at a cost of $15,000.00, installed
upgraded emergency lighting and Lino Lakes and OSHA compliant graphics for a total
investment of $28,385.65.

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the Council approve the sale of the 1995 Custom Fire Rescue Pumper
- Engine 11 for $33,500.00 and deposit the proceeds from the sale of this fire apparatus
into the Fire Apparatus Replacement Fund.

ATTACHMENTS

Ellsburg Volunteer Fire Department Email
