<br /> <br /> <br />Q2 Notable Actions & Events <br />• On April 6th, staff started the Junior Citizen Academy for 15 middle school students at <br />Centennial Middle School. Students met once a week after school for one hour over the course of <br />8 weeks to receive information and demonstrations on fire and police operations. <br />• From April 27 – 30 the Explorers participated in the State Conference in Rochester, MN. The <br />Lino Lakes Explorers placed 3rd in Drill Team, 3rd in Airsoft Tactical Training, and 5th place in <br />the following events 25-yard pistol shoot, bomb scene search, and 5K run. <br />• Lino Lakes participated in the National Drug Take Back Initiative on Saturday, April 29th. <br />During the event community members turned in 71.5 pounds of unused medications, which will <br />be properly disposed. <br />• On May 6th staff participated in Truck Day at Rice Lake Elementary School with a patrol <br />vehicle, Aerial 21 and Engine 21. <br />• On May 13th staff volunteered and constructed new playground equipment at YMCA - Lino <br />Lakes. <br />• On Thursday, May 18th the Public Safety Department conducted our annual Volunteer <br />Appreciation event at Fire Station #2. <br />• During a Council meeting on May 22, Officer Mat Paulson received the American Legion Police <br />Officer of the Year Award and Lieutenant Mark Hokkanen received the American Legion <br />Firefighter of the Year Award. Police Reserve Captain Andy Bennett received an award for 20 <br />years of volunteer service to the Lino Lakes Public Safety Department. <br />• Aerial 21 was put into service on May 24, 2017.
