See Appendix B for additional <br />information. <br /> <br />• Warrant 1 – Eight-Hour Vehicle Volume: NOT MET <br />• Warrant 2 – Four-Hour Vehicle Volume: MET <br />• Warrant 3 – Peak-hour Vehicle Volume: MET <br />• Warrant 4 – Pedestrian Volume: N/A <br />• Warrant 5 – School Crossing: N/A <br />• Warrant 6 – Coordinated Signal System: N/A <br />• Warrant 7 – Crash Experience: NOT MET <br />• Warrant 9 – Intersection Near a Grade Crossing: N/A <br /> <br />Signal Warrants 2 and 3 are met with existing traffic volumes, lane geometry, and speed limits. <br /> <br />Roundabout Criteria <br /> <br />Although no traffic warrants for roundabouts currently exist, the MnDOT Intersection Control <br />Evaluation Manual states that if a traffic signal or an all-way stop warrant is met, a roundabout <br />should also be considered as a warranted traffic control device. As discussed above the <br />intersection is currently controlled by an all-way stop and does meet traffic signal warrants. <br /> <br />The Intersection Control Evaluation Manual also states that site-specific safety issues may cause <br />a roundabout to be justified. As seen in Table 4, a roundabout would reduce the current crash <br />rate. Furthermore, a roundabout will improve future roadway conditions as shown in the <br />Operational Analysis section of this report. <br /> <br />Crash Evaluation <br /> <br />Crash reductions for each type of intersection control were estimated based on the proposed <br />layout and the crash reduction factors from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Crash <br />Reduction Factors and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) Roundabout <br />Crash Reduction Factors. Table 4 shows the projected crash rate and yearly crashes for each <br />traffic control type using the existing traffic volumes. Fewer crashes mean a reduced cost to the <br />local economy in terms of lost productivity related to property damage, injuries, and congestion <br />on local roadways. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
