CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1B <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: November 13, 2017 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consideration of Resolution No. 17-125, Supporting Anoka County’s <br />Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve Master Plan Amendment <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Council is being requested to approve a resolution supporting Anoka County’s Rice Creek <br />Chain of Lakes Park Reserve Master Plan Amendment. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department has been working on a master plan <br />amendment for the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve that includes redeveloping the <br />Peltier Fishing Pier access (across from the park entrance road), adding some additional camper <br />cabins to the campground, creating an interpretive area near the burial mound off CSAH 14 and <br />Mound Trail, and incorporating the projects outlined in the Wargo Nature Center Master Plan. <br /> <br />The Park Board reviewed the master plan amendment during the community engagement phase <br />of the project at their May 15, 2017 Park Board meeting. Ms. Karen Blaska, Park Planner, from <br />Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department attended the November 6 work session and <br />presented the master plan amendment to the City Council. <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve Resolution No. 17-125, Supporting Anoka County’s Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park <br />Reserve Master Plan Amendment. <br /> <br />
