Public Safety Department Quarterly Update – Director Swenson reviewed a 15 <br />PowerPoint presentation on Public Safety Department activities for the quarter ending 16 <br />September 30, 2017. The report includes statistics on cases, calls for service, fire 17 <br />division, mutual aid, offenses (by type), arrests (by offense), felony case file submissions 18 <br />(to Anoka County) and notable actions and events. 19 <br />The council heard about the process underway in the Public Safety Department to 20 <br />establish a policy for use of body cameras. 21 <br />2017 Areas of Focus: Expand fire prevention, body camera research, Public Safety 22 <br />Citizen’s Academy, continue training on crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques 23 <br />and finishing the training facility at Fire Station No. 2. 24 <br />Mayor Reinert asked staff to add discussion of the ACE Program to the next work session 25 <br />agenda; it was requested that criminal attorney Olson join in that discussion. 26 <br />2.
