CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br />ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />MINUTES <br />DATE: February 8, 2017 <br />MEMBERS <br />PRESENT: Jim Schueller, Nathan Vojtech, Chad Wagner, <br />Thomas Colgan, Patrick Kohler, Don Johnson <br />MEMBERS <br />ABSENT: Michael Ruhland, Julie Schwartz <br />OTHERS PRESENT: Mike Grochala, Mara Strand, Kathy Laur <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />It was moved by Mr. Kohler to approve the minutes from December 7, 2017. The motion was <br />seconded by Mr. Vojtech and passed unanimously. <br />DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />A. Comprehensive Plan Update <br />Mr. Grochala presented Chapter 5: Economic Development of the 2040 Comprehensive <br />Plan. He also provided an overview of the recently completed "Economic Development <br />Business Recruitment Roadmap" prepared by Ady Advantage for Conexus Energy. The <br />Study included a broad range of research and survey information across Anoka County <br />leading to compilation of a county wide action plan. Specific findings of the report <br />include: <br />• The perception of Anoka County is that it's rural, something the County is <br />trying to change. <br />• Target Industry Analysis recommended targeting light manufacturing, heavy <br />manufacturing, distribution and tracking, data centers and back office operations <br />such as medical services and call centers. <br />• Clearwater Creek Business Park received positive reviews in the site analysis <br />component. <br />Staff noted that the will continue work with Anoka County and Conexus as part of the <br />City's implementation of the Economic Development Plan. <br />Board members stated that the City was in a good position for economic development <br />and that the Main Street/35E corridor held a lot of promise. <br />
