ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
AGENDA ITEM 3A
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala
EDAC MEETING DATE: April 5, 2018
TOPIC: Comprehensive Plan Update
BACKGROUND
Landform, the City's Planning Consultant, has completed the draft plan for public review and
consideration by the City Council. A Comprehensive Plan Open House is scheduled for April 3,
2018 at City Hall from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The draft plan can be found on the City's Website
under 2040 Comprehensive Plan.
The City Council raised some concerns regarding the mixed use land use designation at its
March 2, 2018 meeting. The Mixed Use District is intended to allow for a mix of residential,
retail and office uses. This district was first established in the 2020 Comprehensive adopted in
2001. There are 12 proposed mixed use areas. They are typically located in gateway locations
or along high volume transportation corridors. The mixed use districts allows for our highest
residential density range of 8-15 units per acre (10-24 in the Woods Edge development).
The Council is planning on additional discussion regarding these districts with the possibility of
eliminating them. Any proposed changes will be brought back for review by the advisory
boards.
ATTACHMENTS
1. 2030 Land Use Plan with Mixed Use highlighted
2. 2040 Land Use Plan with Mixed Use highlighted
3.
