Staff is also seeking Council authorization to refurbish T11 and T21, which are 1992 model <br />water tanker trucks, in the amount of $12,500 for each tender bringing the total expenditure to <br />$25,000. This will address mechanical and emergency equipment upgrades as well as upgrades <br />to the fire suppression equipment. If authorized to refurbish T11 and T21, staff estimates this <br />piece of apparatus will not have to be replaced until 2023 and 2024. <br /> <br />The total cost of the requested Council authorization is $588,357. Staff recommends the use of <br />the fire apparatus replacement fund, which has a current balance of $663,215. If approved, the <br />fire apparatus replacement fund balance would be $74,858. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends the Council approve: <br />1. the purchase of the second Quick Attack Engine from Custom Fire $183,357; <br />2. the purchase of a used 2004 E-One Cyclone II Bronto 114’ Rescue Ladder Platform <br />from the Mdewakanton Fire Department and needed equipment and certifications with <br />an amount not to exceed $380,000; <br />3. the refurbishing of Tender 11 and Tender 21 for a total of $25,000. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />None
