CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1 H <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: March 11 , 201 3 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consideration of Resolution No. 1 3 -33 <br /> Extension of Time for Century Farm North 6 th Addition <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br /> <br />INTRODUCTI ON <br /> <br />In 200 3 the City Council approved Century Farm North , a residential subdivision. This approval <br />included Resolution 03 -60 approving a PUD Development Stage Plan/Preliminary Plat. The site <br />has not been developed, but the owner is still interested in pur suing the project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Century Farm North project received planned unit development (PUD) and preliminary plat <br />approval in 2003 with Resolution No. 03 -60. A PUD development stage plan must be followed <br />by the PUD final plan application within twelve months. Similarly, a final plat must be <br />submitted within one year of the preliminary plat approval. <br /> <br />The City Council previously granted extensions by approving Resolutions 07 -165, 08 -107 09 -39, <br />10 -36, and 10 -85. The city council approved the fina l plan/final plat of the Century Farm North <br />5 th Addition in March of 2011. T he city’s Subdivision and Platting Ordinance requires the final <br />plat for subsequent phases be submitted within one year of approval of the final plat for the <br />previous phase . The deadline for submission of the f inal p lan/f inal p lat for the 6 th Addition was <br />March 1 , 201 3 . <br /> <br />Due to the widespread slowdown in development in the region, the developer w as not be able to <br />meet the deadlines for submittal of the final plan/plat. The deve loper has asked for another <br />extension. A PUD can be extended for period of six months under the zoning ordinance. The <br />City Council may approve such extension after the deadline has passed. The current <br />recommendation is to extend the deadline to October 1 , 201 3 . <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve Resolution No. 1 3 -33 granting an extension of time for submittal of the PUD Final <br />Plan/Final Plat for Century Farm North 6 th Add i tion. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />1.
