CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />June 25, 2018 <br />1 CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />2 MINUTES <br />3 <br />4 DATE June 25, 2018 <br />5 TIME STARTED 6:00 p.m. <br />6 TIME ENDED 6:25 p.m. <br />7 MEMBERS PRESENT Council Member Rafferty, Maher, <br />8 Manthey, Stoesz and Mayor Reinert <br />9 MEMBERS ABSENT None <br />10 <br />11 Staff members present: City Administrator Jeff Karlson; Public Safety Director John <br />12 Swenson; Community Development Director Michael Grochala; City Planner Katie <br />13 Larsen; City Engineer Diane Hankee. <br />14 <br />15 Review Dates for Land Use Workshop with Jay Squires —Administrator Karlson <br />16 noted that the department directors met with the City's newly appointed city attorney, Jay <br />17 Squires. <br />18 <br />19 Mr. Squires has offered to provide informational workshops for the council, and the first <br />20 proposed would be on land use. The dates of September 131h and September 20th are <br />21 proposed. <br />22 <br />23 The council concurred that it would be appropriate to inform the city's advisory board <br />24 members. <br />25 <br />26 The council concurred that the workshop will be scheduled for September 20th, 6:00 p.m. <br />27 <br />28 Review Regular Council Agenda of 2018 — <br />29 <br />30 Item 111— Approving the Renewal of Liquor License for Don Julio Mexican <br />31 Restaurant - Administrator Karlson reported that the fine has been received for the <br />32 liquor compliance action taken recently by the council. Mayor Reinert remarked that he <br />33 understands that some bad things happened at the restaurant and the law will address <br />34 those through the individuals responsible. The City's jurisdiction is the license and <br />35 basically the location within the city. He feels the council has addressed the violations of <br />36 the liquor license. He would like to add to the renewal that if there is any additional <br />37 incident, they are facing a shut down. Public Safety Director Swenson added <br />38 information on the training the employees at this business have received, informational <br />39 assistance they can receive from the police department and where an additional violation <br />40 would land the business in regard to a staff bringing forward recommendation to revoke <br />41 their liquor license. The license holder has been clearly informed. <br />42 <br />43 Item 3C — Approval of AFSCME Labor Agreement for 201&2019 — Administrator <br />44 Karlson reviewed the basic terms of the two-year contract proposed and noted that the <br />45 tentative agreement has been approved by the union membership.
