Sign Ordinance Mayor Reinert indicated that discussion of this item would be 17- postponed since the council has a heavy agenda to review in an abbreviated session. 18 19 2. Review Regular Council Agenda of August 26, 2013 20- 21 Consent Agenda, Item 1B Council Member Stoesz asked that the Minutes be corrected 22- to indicated that there was a direction/action regarding the reporting of fleet management 23 data. 24 25 Item 3A, Part-time Scanner Position Administrator Karlson reviewed the requested to 26- hire a part-time scanner operator to assist with the electronic records project. Progress is 27 being made on the project and he recommends bringing in this part time position for 28 scanning.Council Member Stoesz asked if hiring two people would make the project go 29 twice as fast? Administrator Karlson responded that he will check on that possibility. 30 31 Item 4A, Firearms Ordinance Amendment -Police Chief Swenson reported that the 32 ordinance will make a change to the city code as requested by the council. The change 33 will allow for bow hunting in the area of the city where that was previously prohibited, in 34 an attempt to manage deer populations and deer related accidents. The other piece of the 35 deer management direction, a contract with a bowhunters group for a managed hunt, will 36 be coming forward for council consideration soon. 37 38 Item 5A, Street Maintenance Position Public Services Director DeGardner explained 39- that this vacancy created by a recent retirementwas discussed at the last council work 40 session. He recommends that this position be filled to bring the department back to 41 budgeted strength. Mayor Reinert remarked that he understands that this position is 42 needed; he supports filling it while the council continues to look for efficiencies within 43 that department. 44 45 1
