1 <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee PE, City Engineer <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: November 13, 2018 <br /> <br />TOPIC: PUBLIC HEARING: Consider 1st Reading of Ordinance No. <br />16-18, Vacating right of way along Sandpiper Drive and drainage <br />and utility easements within Lakes Addition No. 1 <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 4/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting City Council consideration of the 1st Reading of Ordinance No. 16-18, <br />vacating a portion of the street right of way along Sandpiper Drive and drainage and utility <br />easements originally dedicated in Lakes Addition No. 1, Anoka County, Minnesota. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />At the Council Meeting on September 24th, a Joint Powers Agreement with Anoka County was <br />approved. This Joint Powers Agreement is in conjunction with the West Shadow Lake Drive <br />Area project. As part of the agreement, an existing portion of City right-of-way that is currently <br />being used as Golf Course will be vacated. This vacation would result in the reversion of the <br />property to the county. The roadway is not planned to be extended in the future. A cul-de-sac <br />will be constructed at the end of Sandpiper Drive. <br /> <br />The Right of Way Vacation Sketch that was included in the Joint Powers Agreement is <br />enclosed. <br /> <br />The second reading of the ordinance is scheduled for November 26, 2018. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff is recommending approval of the 1st Reading of Ordinance No. 16-18 vacating right of <br />way along Sandpiper Drive and drainage and utility easements within Lakes Addition No. 1. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />1.
