6. Shall not be closer than 1200 feet to another such <br />advertising on the same side of an interstate freeway. For <br />the purpose of this Ordinance, a back-to-back or V-type sign <br />shall be considered as one structure. <br />7. May not be erected within 50 feet of an adjacent residential <br />structure on the same side of the street. <br />8. Shall have a minimum square footage requirement of 200 feet, <br />and a maximum square footage restriction of 750 feet. <br />B. All signs other than temporary signs, residential identification <br />nameplate signs and residential area identification signs shall be <br />constructed of, and erected upon steel or steel component structures, <br />unless it can be illustrated that the use of wood, fiberglass or <br />another substance is integral to the design of the sign and is as <br />structurally capable as steel or steel component parts. <br />C. All ground signs shall be constructed as to withstand wind <br />load pressure of 30 P.S.F. <br />D. No sign shall be permitted within public right-of-way. <br />E. Illuminated flashing signs are permitted only in commercial <br />and industrial districts. <br />F. Except in industrial and commercial districts, signs shall not <br />be painted directly to any exterior building surface but shall be <br />on a separate frame except for temporary display windows. Sign <br />letters, symbols may be directly attached to a wall by adhesive <br />or mechanical means. <br />G. No sign shall be erected which resembles any official marker <br />erected by a government agency. <br />H. No sign shall be installed, which by reason of position, shape <br />or color would conflict with the proper functioning or interpretation <br />of any traffic sign or signal. <br />I. There shall be no use of revolving beacons, zip flashers or <br />similar devices that would so distract automobile traffic as to <br />constitute a safety hazard. <br />J. No sign shall be permitted to obstruct any window, door, fire <br />escape, stairway or opening of any building or structure. <br />K. Political signs may be permitted for a period of not more than <br />30 days before and 10 days after an election period and removal shall <br />be the responsibility of the candidate or his campaign manager. <br />L. All signs shall be maintained in good condition and the areas <br />a -round them kept free from debris, bushes, high weeds, and from <br />anything else which would be an eyesore or nuisance. The surface <br />of all signs must be repainted at least once every two (2) years <br />or whenever necessary as determined by inspection to prevent the <br />sign surface from becoming unkempt in appearance. When any sign is <br />removed, the building inspector shall be notified and the entire <br />surrounding area shall be cleared of all debris and unsightly <br />projections and protrusions. <br />M. Signs which become unsafe shall be repaired or removed by the <br />licensee upon notification by the Village inspection department. <br />N. The source of light for any sign must be indirect or diffused <br />and shall not be directed into any adjoining residential district. <br />
