When the top of the tank is lower than all floors, basements, <br />cellars, or pits of buildings, and all sewers, catch basins <br />and manholes (1) within a radius of 50 ft. - Unlimited <br />(2) within a radius of 40 ft. - 50,000 gals. <br />(3) withio a radi_zs of 30 Et. - 20,000 gals. <br />(4) within a radius of 25 ft. - 10,000 gals. <br />(5) within a radius of 20 ft. - 5,000 gals. <br />(6) within a radius of 10 ft. - 1,500 gals <br />When such tank is not lower than such basements of other <br />structures, within a radius of ten feet the storage is hereby <br />limited to 500 gallons and the tank shall be entirely encased <br />:tn six inches of concrete. <br />Service Stations. - All Service Stations shall be installed, <br />conducted and maintained in accordance with the following rules: <br />a. All tanks used for storage of inflammable liquids shall be <br />underground tanks installed as provided in the preceding section. <br />b. Delivery of inflammable liquids of Classes I and II from <br />tank wagons or tank cars shall be made direct to the storage <br />tank through the filling pipe from the receptacle from which <br />the liquid is being drawn. No tank wagon may make such delivery <br />with its engine or motor running. <br />c. Delivery of inflammable liquids from the storage tank shall <br />be made through pumps, which are mechanically perfect and so <br />constructed as to prevent leaking or splashing. At the completion <br />of each delivery the discharge hose must be completely emptied <br />or hung up so that no liquids may run therefrom. When the service <br />station is closed, each pump shall be so locked as to prevent the <br />drawing of liquids therefrom. <br />d. Buildings used as service stations shall be fireproof and shall <br />be heated by steam or hot water. The heating plant shall be in a <br />fireproof room with no opening except an outside entrance. This <br />paragraph shall not apply to buildings now being used as service <br />stations, except that no stoves will be permitted under any circum- <br />stances. <br />e. No service station may be located within four hundred feet <br />(400) of any public building. <br />f. No inflammable liquids may be kept in or dispensed from said <br />buildings in open containers and no light or flame shall be <br />permitted within any such premises. <br />g. No person at any service station shall dispense any inflammable <br />liquids to a motor vehicle while the motor of said vehicle is <br />running. <br />h. The maximum amount of storage of inflammable liquids permitted <br />in any service station is 10,000 gallons. <br />Garages. - The storage of inflammable liquids in and near garages for <br />use therein or to be dispensed therefrom shall conform to the following <br />rules, as well as those in preceding sections: <br />a. All garages shall be equipped with sand traps and grease traps <br />which shall be cleaned often enough to keep any sand or inflammable <br />liquid or grease from entering the sewers. <br />
