(b) A surety bond in the face amount of $5,000.00 running <br />to the Village, approved by the Village Council, con- <br />ditioned that the Village will be saved harmless from <br />any loss, damage, cost or expense, by reason of any <br />work performed under this Ordinance, or by reason of <br />improper or inadequate performance or compliance with <br />the terms of this Ordinance by the holder of the license <br />or his agent or employees. <br />(c) A certificate of insurance or copies of public liability <br />and property damage insurance policies as provided for <br />in the Village Plumbing Ordinance. <br />(4) The Village Council may revoke any license at any time <br />if the licensee shall violate the provisions of this or any other <br />provision of the Village Ordinance. No licensee shall allow his <br />name to be used by any other person for the purpose of doing any <br />work within the Village, except that this provision shall not pre- <br />vent a licensed plumber from employing the services of a licensed <br />pipe layer or licensed sewer installer. <br />SECTION 5. Construction Requirements. The following materials <br />and construction methods, and none other, shall be used in making <br />sewer connections to the municipal system. <br />(1) Materials. All pipe shall be 4" diameter or larger, <br />Extra Heavy Cast Iron Soil Pipe, conforming to A.S.T.M. Standard <br />Specification A-74-42. <br />(2) Joints and Connections. The pipes before joining shall <br />be dry and clean. The joints shall be made by caulking in the <br />space between the bell and spigot with jute, well driven in, and <br />pouring molten lead to fill the remainder of the space. After lead <br />has set it shall be caulked around the entire joint. Leave a 1/8" <br />clearance between the back surface of the bell and spigot end for <br />movement. The quantity of lead required for 4" pipe is at least <br />4 pounds; 6" pipe at least 6 pounds; 8" pipe at least 10 pounds. <br />In place of lead, the joint may be made by use of an approved <br />neoprene gasket, especially designed for use in connecting cast <br />iron soil pipe. In the event it is feasible or necessary, as de- <br />termined by Village Plumbing Inspector and Engineer, that any clay <br />pipe is to be used or any clay pipe and cast iron pipe are to be <br />joined, the type of joint shall be specified by such technicians <br />for the Village. <br />(3) Grades. Unless otherwise authorized, all house sewers <br />shall have a grade of not less than 1/8 inch per foot. A grade of <br />1/4 inch per foot shall be used wherever practicable. It is the <br />responsibility of the sewer installer to excavate the sewer stub <br />at or near the foundation of the building to be connected.
