of the bell of the adjoining pipe and the bottom of the bell of <br />the wye branch when the wye branch is turned opposite to the <br />direction to which it is to face in its permanent position. Then <br />insert the wye branch by lowering same horizontally in place, then <br />turn wye branch around by rotating same 180 degrees then caulk the <br />joint at each end of the pipe and seal the joint with the specified <br />hot compound jointing material, making sure that the entire joint <br />is properly sealed against leakage. Then place a 1.3 mix mortar <br />envelope around the entire pipe at each joint. The envelope to be <br />at least twelve (12) inches wide and four (4) inches in thickness. <br />The bell hole shall be dug out to completely encase the pipe at the <br />joint. <br />The use of the double T's or tapping the sewer in the street <br />by cutting a hole in the pipe and inserting a straight pipe or use <br />of saddle hubs will not be permitted, except where large size con- <br />crete pipe is used for the sewer main, in which case saddles are <br />required. <br />(8) Cesspools. The sewer installer shall be permitted to <br />pump the clear liquid content of septic tanks and cesspools into <br />the lateral line in the street with a centrifugal pump having a <br />discharge line of 12 inches maximum diameter and he shall then <br />flush the stub connection clean with a garden hose for at least <br />15 minutes under the supervision of the Village Plumbing Inspector. <br />Sludge which cannot be removed in the above manner shall be pumped <br />into tank wagons and removed. <br />All wooden and metal cesspools and septic tanks shall be <br />pumped and filled to eliminate the danger of future cave-ins. <br />(9) Tunneling. Tunneling for distances of not more than <br />six feet is permissable in yard, courts or driveways of any build- <br />ing site. When pipes are driven, the drive pipe shall be at least <br />one size larger than the pipe to be laid. <br />(10) Cover. The minimum cover over house connections shall <br />be six (6) feet in order to prevent freezing. Wherever possible <br />the cover shall be maintained at seven (7) feet. <br />SECTION 6. Independent Systems. <br />(1) The drainage and plumbing system of each new building <br />and of new work installed in an existing building shall be separate <br />from and independent of that of any other building except where <br />provided in (2) of this section, and every building shall have an <br />independent connection with a public sewer when such is available. <br />
