acceptable as extra protection for the joints on cast-iron water <br />pipe. In all cases, precautions shall be taken to assure a firm <br />foundation for the pipes. The intervening space between the pipes <br />shall be backfilled with compact earth. <br />SECTION 12. Private Water Supplies. No water pipe of the <br />water system shall be connected with any pump, well, tank, or <br />piping that is connected with any other source of water supply. <br />SECTION 13. Use Confined to Premises. No person shall <br />permit water from the water system to be used for any purpose ex- <br />cept upon his own premises unless prior written consent is obtained <br />from the Village. <br />SECTION 14. Connections Beyond Village Boundaries. Where <br />water mains of the Village are in any street or alley adjacent to <br />or outside the corporate limits of the Village, the Village Council <br />may issue permits to the owners or occupants of properties adjacent <br />or accessible to such water mains to make proper water service pipe <br />connections with such water mains of the Village and to be supplied <br />with water in conformity with the applicable provisions of this <br />Ordinance and subject to any contract for the supply of water <br />between the Village and any other municipality. <br />SECTION 15. Private Wells. <br />(1) Private wells may be maintained and continued in use after <br />connection is made to the water system, provided there is no means <br />of cross -connection between the private well and municipal supply <br />at any time. Hose bibbs, that will enable the cross -connection of <br />the two systems, are prohibited on internal piping of the well <br />supply system. The threads on the boiler drain of the well volume <br />tank shall be removed or the boiler drain bibb replaced with a sink <br />faucet. Where both private and Village systems are in use, out- <br />side hose bibbs shall not be installed on both systems. <br />(2) All new homes or buildings shall connect to the municipal <br />water system if a water main is available to the property unless the <br />Village Council approves a private well where circumstances exist. <br />(3) Where new homes or buildings do not have a water main <br />available to the property, the Village Council shall determine <br />whether and under what conditions the municipal water systems will <br />be extended to serve the property or a private well allowed. <br />(4) If the well is not continued in use at the time a munici- <br />pal water connection is made, <br />(a) The well pump and tank shall be discontinued from <br />all internal house piping; <br />
