... 1005.03. Rules and Definitions. Subdivision 1. Rules. The language set forth in the text of this Ordinance shall be interpreted in accordance with the following rules of construc- . tion: (1) The singular number includes the plural, and the plural the singular. (2) The present tense includes the past and future tenses, and the future the present. (3) The words "shall" and "will" are mandatory, and the word "may" is permissive. (4) Whenever a word or term defined hereinafter appears in the text of this Ordinance, its meaning shall be construed as set forth in such definition thereof. (5) The masculine gender includes the feminine and neuter genders. (6) All measured distances expressed in feet shall be to the nearest tenth of a foot. (7) In event of conflicting provisions, the more restrictive provision shall apply. Subd. 2. Definitions. (1) Accessory Structure - A structure detached from a principal building on the same lot and customarily incidental and subordi- nate to the principal building or use. (2) Accessory Use - A use of land or of a building or portion thereof customarily incidental and subordinate to the principal use of the land or building and located on the same lot with such principal use. (3) Addition - A structure added to the original structure at some time after the completion of the original. (4) Adjoining Lot or Land - A lot or parcel of land which shares all or part of a common lot line with another lot or parcel of land. (5) Aesthetic - The perception of artistic elements, or elements in the natural or man-made environment which are pleasing to the eye. (6) Agricultural Farm Building. An accessory building used or intended for use on an active commercial food producing farm operation of more than ten (10) acres. A Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Permit may be required.
