<br />5/29/2019 15 <br /> <br />• The majority of lakes within the City are listed as impaired by the MPCA for both <br />biological and nutrient degradation. <br /> <br />• The Heron Colony must be monitored and managed, to prevent the loss of the colony <br />from predation and disturbance. <br /> <br />• Our forests are threatened with Oak Wilt, Emerald Ash borer and a multitude of other <br />invasive pests and plants that can degrade our unique environmental areas and decrease <br />property values. <br /> <br />• Our ground water must be protected from pollution. Salt use may someday compromise <br />this resource. Unfiltered infiltration water can pollute our Drinking Water Service <br />Management Areas. <br /> <br />• Soil Compaction destroys soil infiltration and soil productivity, and leads to higher rates <br />of stormwater and irrigation water runoff. This is a very large threat in our development <br />areas. <br />
