October 5, 1978 <br />- Page Three - <br />Mr. Schneider went over the additions and deletions and with the additional <br />interest, this should present a balanced budget. <br />The Clerk was instructed to add to the monthly report, a schedule of investmen <br />with the interest rates included. <br />The <br />get <br />for <br />matter of the fees charged for City services was discussed. The Clerk is <br />a copy of the current fees to all Council members for their recommendation <br />an increase in these fees. <br />The matter of hiring a Clerk -Typist to take and transcribe minutes for the <br />extra,meeti;ngs was discussed. Mr. Schneider suggested adding 1,000.00 to the <br />budget for this purpose. There is also the need for long term disability <br />insurance far the maintenance men as well as the Police department. An <br />additional 500:.00 to be added for this. <br />The summer recreational programs in the school districts was discussed. There <br />was a questions as to who uses these programs. The general consensus of the <br />Council was that. if one district was supported, then all three must be <br />supported in like manner. They felt that the City should participate in these <br />programs but at this time it is financially impossible. They felt that the <br />offer of full use of the Parks was one thing that could be done and this <br />should include all_ school districts. <br />On the matter of the shade tree control program, Mr. McLean questioned if <br />this was necessary. The Clerk is to contact the City Attorney on this matter. <br />Mr. McLean felt that since the .hulk of the Planner's time is spent in re- <br />viewing preliminary plats and, this is paid by the developers, the planners <br />fees could be cut by at le' st- 500.00. <br />Based on the foregoing diistcu5Ieion, Mr. Schneider moved to certify the levy <br />to the County to include the 10eCial levies as set forth in these figures, <br />with the total levy to be $22,0;,369.00, with the levy for the shade tree, <br />control to be deleted and' the,,,figure adjusted in accordance with the Attorney'. <br />recommendations. Seconded by. Mr. McLean. Motion declared passed. <br />Mr. Schneider said the public .Hearing on the use of the Federal Revenue <br />Shareing Funds to be held pp Pct. 10, 1978 will have to be continued until <br />the regular meeting on Oct. 23,<i 1`978,; He needs more time to set the use of <br />these funds. <br />Mr. Volk said at the aucti, <br />present time there is 975. <br />look at State auctions to;. <br />obtaining another tractor ye. <br />for the boulevards.
