CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM 6D STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee PE, City Engineer MEETING DATE: March 11, 2019 TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 19-27, Approving Change Order No. 1, West Shadow Lake Area Improvement Project VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 INTRODUCTION Staff is requesting council approval of Change Order No. 1 for the West Shadow Lake Area Improvement Project. BACKGROUND On October 8, 2018, the City Council awarded the bid for the West Shadow Lake Area Improvement Project to Geislinger and Sons, Inc. in the amount of $4,940,636.57. Construction of the project has been on-going since that time. On February 6, 2019, WSB and the City held a neighborhood meeting to provide information regarding the 2019 construction season. At the meeting, residents along the south end of the project, near the woods, requested that the ribbon curb be extended further to the south. During final design, it was understood that residents in this area wanted the road to remain as rural as possible and without curbing through this area and thus it was not included in the project. For Council consideration, WSB along with City staff have drafted Change Order No. 1 in the amount $41,849.00 to extend the ribbon curb approximately 625 feet to the south. The construction of curb on this project is funded through the Closed Bond Fund. This would bring the estimated total cost of the curb on the project to $182,000. The West Shadow Lake Area Improvement Project contract with Geislinger and Sons, Inc. with Change Order No. 1 would be increased to $4,982,485.57. RECOMMENDATION Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 19-27 for Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $41,849.00 for the West Shadow Lake Area Improvement Project. ATTACHMENTS 1.
