<br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1F <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Lisa Hogstad-Osterhues, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: August 12, 2019 <br /> <br />TOPIC Consider Resolution No. 19-99, Authorizing issuance <br /> of a Temporary On-Sale Intoxicating/3.2 malt Beverage <br />Permit for The Tavern on Main – Blue Heron Days Festival <br /> <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />City Code Chapter 301 has been amended to allow consumption or use of 3.2 malt liquor in a <br />public park or public grounds in designated areas approved by the City Council. The purpose of <br />this regulation is to protect the health, safety and welfare of citizens by regulating time, place and <br />manner of conduct by establishing requirements. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City has received an application from The Tavern on Main applying for a Temporary On- <br />Sale Intoxicating/3.2 malt Beverage Permit to serve food and craft beer at the annual Blue Heron <br />Days Festival. This will be the second year The Tavern on Main has applied for this permit. <br /> <br />The Tavern will ID customers ordering alcoholic beverages and provide them with a wristband. <br /> <br />Food and beverages will be served on Saturday, August 17 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />The Public Safety Department has reviewed the application and has signed off on the permit. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />The Tavern on Main’s application meets the requirements of the city code and has not been <br />found to present any safety concerns. Therefore, staff recommends that the council approve <br />Resolution No. 19-99, Authorizing issuance of a Temporary On-Sale Intoxicating/3.2 malt <br />Beverage Permit.
