CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3C <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Karissa Bartholomew, Human Resources Manager <br />MEETING DATE: December 23, 2019 <br />TOPIC: Labor Agreement with I.U.O.E, Local No. 49 <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The City Council is being asked to consider Resolution 19-180, "Approving the 2020 Labor <br />Agreement between the City of Lino Lakes and I.U.O.E., Local No. 49." <br />BACKGROUND <br />A tentative agreement has been reached for a one-year contract with I.U.O.E, Local No. 49. A <br />tentative agreement was reached after two negotiation meetings and the union members voted <br />in favor of the following terms: <br />1) WAGES: 3% wage increase effective January 1, 2020 for all unit members. <br />2) HEALTH INSURANCE: The City saw a decrease for 2020 and the union and City will <br />share in the decrease. All remaining provisions remain the same. <br />3) DENTAL: The City will add language in the union contract to reflect the practice of <br />providing single coverage. All other union contracts have language on dental insurance. <br />4) PROBATIONARY PERIODS: Increases probationary periods from six months to one <br />year for new hires. <br />5) TEMPORARY/SEASONAL MOU: Removes the provision requiring the City to credit <br />seasonal hours toward leave accruals and starting pay when a seasonal employee is <br />hired as a full-time employee. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Authorize execution of the 2020 labor agreement between the City of Lino Lakes and I.U.O.E., <br />Local No. 49. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Resolution 19-180 <br />
