MEETING DATE: December 9, 2019 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution 19-164, Authorize the Preparation of <br />Plans and Specs, 2020 Street Rehabilitation Project <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting Council authorization to prepare plans and specifications for the 2020 Street <br />Rehabilitation Project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />In accordance with the City’s Pavement Management Plan, streets are identified for annual <br />maintenance. The pavement management plan analyzes the conditions for the bituminous roadways <br />within the City, and recommends maintenance and repair strategies for the streets depending on <br />their conditions. Streets were selected for the 2020 Street Rehabilitation Project based on pavement <br />management criteria, coring reports, input from Public Works, traffic volumes, and feasibility of <br />locations. <br /> <br />The proposed 2020 Street Rehabilitation Project includes: <br /> <br />Full Depth Mill and Overlay / Reclamation – Deerwood Lane from Birch Street south to <br />Fox Road, and Fox Road from Deerwood Lane west to West Shadow Lake Drive <br />Thin Overlay – Carl Street from 4th Avenue west 1,400 feet, Rehbein Street, 77th Street, and <br />Gordon Avenue. Bid Alternate* for Olive Street, Eva Street, Orange Street, and Maple <br />Street. <br />Chip Seal, Crack Fill & Striping – City Hall Parking Lot and Town Center Parkway from <br />Lake Drive to YMCA <br />Curb Repair – Town Center Parkway south curb line from Lake Drive to YMCA and east <br />entrance to City Hall parking lot <br /> <br />*A bid alternate is being included in the event that we receive favorable bids and have the ability to <br />complete additional work. <br /> <br />Includes water system repairs - gate valve bolt replacement and investigative service replacement, <br />similar to the 2019 Project <br /> <br />
