CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />APPROVED <br />1 CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />2 MINUTES <br />3 <br />4 DATE February 24, 2020 <br />5 TIME STARTED 6:00 p.m. <br />6 TIME ENDED 6:28 p.m. <br />7 MEMBERS PRESENT Council Member Stoesz, Lyden, Ruhland <br />8 and Mayor Rafferty; Council Member <br />9 Elect Cavegn <br />to MEMBERS ABSENT None <br />11 <br />12 Staff members present: City Administrator Jeff Karlson; Public Services Director Rick <br />13 DeGardner; City Clerk Julie Bartell <br />14 <br />15 L Schedule Date for Strategic Planning Meeting — The meeting was set for <br />16 March 19, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room. <br />17 Administrator Karlson also asked the council to arrive early on March 9th to have group <br />18 and individual official photos taken. <br />19 2. Review Regular Agenda — <br />20 Item SA, Contract with Northland Recreation, Inc. for Woods Edge Park <br />21 Playground Equipment — Public Services Director DeGardner reviewed his written <br />22 request to proceed with a contract to purchase the necessary equipment for this new park <br />23 facility. He noted that he is comfortable with the contractor as they have provided <br />24 services to the City in the past. <br />25 Council Member Lyden asked about how the playground will be surfaced and Mr. <br />26 DeGardner said it will be surfaced with engineered wood fiber and it will be ADA <br />27 accessible. <br />28 Council Member Lyden added that he'd find it advantageous to have a visual of what is <br />29 planned; he wants to see equipment that engages the children. He also asked if the <br />30 YMCA is partnering or planning to utilize this park and Mr. DeGardner said that the <br />31 YMCA has not decided to officially be a part of the park project but he expects there may <br />32 be some unofficial use. Council Member Lyden asked if there will be benches for <br />33 parents and how much sunshine the site will provide Mr. DeGardner said some trees are <br />34 being trimmed but the site will be quite shady; he will review the master plan at the <br />35 council meeting. <br />36 Council Member Stoesz asked if signage for this park will clearly indicate that this is a <br />37 Lino Lakes' park and not a YMCA park. Mr. DeGardner responded that he will make <br />38 that a consideration as signage is installed. <br />1 <br />
