ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala, Community Development Director <br />EDAC MEETING DATE: June 4, 2020 <br />REQUEST: Discussion Items <br />Backl1round <br />A number of new commercial projects are going through the review process. <br />COVID -19 Update <br />Outdoor Dining for Bars and Restaurants. Governor Walz issued an executive order on May 20 <br />allowing outdoor dining for bars and restaurants in a limited capacity. The City Council took <br />action on May 26 to allow some interim flexibility for our outdoor seating requirements. <br />Business mailing and information is attached. <br />Lyngblomsten <br />The City received final plan and final plat application for the first phase of the Lyngblomsten <br />Project. The Planning and Zoning Board will be reviewing the proposal on June 10. The project <br />will include the independent senior living and assisted living components along with the <br />townhome development. The skilled nursing facility and commercial development will be part <br />of future phases. The building elevations have changed due to programming and cost <br />considerations but continue to meet requirements and provide a strong architectural presence <br />along Hodgson Road. <br />Staff has also been working with the development team, Anoka and Ramsey Counties and the <br />City of Shoreview on proposed improvements to County Road J and Hodgson Road. The latest <br />concept would include turn lane improvements to both roadways. <br />Laborer's Training Facility Expansion. <br />The Laborer's Training Center, located on the City's east side off of Main Street is planning a <br />37,000 square foot addition. A public hearing is scheduled before the Planning and Zoning <br />Board on June 10. The LTC was originally constructed in 1993. <br />Attachments <br />1.
