that End Up as Trash in Curbside Recycling Carts. Anoka County has now developed a Recycle Smart for <br />the Holidays campaign which Maggie will explain. <br />B. Anoka County Recycle Smart Holiday Campaign — Maggie Yauk <br />Maggie presented a package of campaign materials that will be available to each municipality in Drop Box. <br />The package includes articles in various sizes which can be inserted in newsletters and web pages. It also <br />includes graphics, posts and images for social media platforms. <br />A Facebook holiday campaign ad has already been posted. Maggie shared an example of how it appears <br />on Anoka County's site. Recycling & Resource Solutions will be sending out instructions and <br />recommendations on how to use the campaign materials. Information on how to use the toolkit will be <br />included in a link to Drop Box. <br />Please contact Maggie at 763-324-3486 and at Maggie.Yauk@co.anoka.mn.us if you need assistance or <br />have any questions about using these items. <br />Recycle Smart PowerPoint presentations for agenda items 4A and 4B will be sent to Task Force members and <br />other interested persons who receive meeting agendas shortly after the meeting. <br />5. Review of Timelines for 2021 Contracts and 2022 Municipal Budgeting Cycles — Sue Doll <br />Thanks to the municipal recycling coordinators for submitting their 2021 grant applications on time. The <br />program expansion plans and explanations were well done, and requests have been approved. Each request <br />for additional $20,000 enhancement funding has also been approved. Contracts will be sent out in early <br />November so that there will be enough time for everyone to return signed contracts to the county by mid - <br />December. Please forward your contracts to your city councils for approval and return your signed copies as <br />quickly as possible. The entire process is electronic. The goal is to have fully executed contracts completed by <br />the end of the year. <br />In preparation for the 2022 municipal contracts, any major program or funding changes/modifications need to be <br />discussed in the first quarter of the year. Please provide your 2022 budget timelines to Sue so the county can <br />plan ahead. <br />6. Updates <br />A. Cities and Townships <br />Anoka, Pam Bowman — <br />cc The Fall Recycling Event was very successful with 474 vehicles coming through. While total tonnage <br />has yet to be calculated, an estimated 20 tons of materials were received. <br />o A Pumpkin Smash and Book Up -Cycle event will be held this Sunday, November 1, from 1 pm to 4 pm <br />at Rick Sorenson Park (2015 State Ave). Books are collected and quarantined and then are available <br />for residents to take. <br />x Recycling service proposals (4) have been reviewed and scored. The Waste Reduction & Recycling <br />Board voted to pursue a 5-year contract with ACE Solid Waste, beginning April 1, 2021. <br />oc The Aluminum can trailer was filled (320 lbs.) and earned our new beneficiary $112 to provide lunch to <br />veterans during their recent Waterfowl for Warriors hunt. <br />oc Preparing the Waste Reduction & Recycling Board Annual Report presentation for City Council. <br />oc Collecting holiday string lights at City Hall, Nov. 2 thru Jan. 31, 2021. <br />Blaine, Roark Haver — Sue Doll stated that Blaine is looking into developing an organics drop-off program. <br />Coon Rapids, Colleen Sinclair <br />Coon Rapids is excited to announce that they received state funding for the Recycling Center Expansion <br />Project included in the State Bonding Bill. The city will work over the winter to finalize plans. Construction <br />may begin summer of 2021, depending on when the State releases the funds. <br />
