January 4 , 1982
The regualr meeting of the Lino Lakes Park Board was called to order by
^` Chairman LeBlond with the following members present ; Scherer, Volk, K.
Johnson. Absent ; R. Johnson, Arntzen, Flannery.
The minutes from the December 7 , 1982 meeting had not been typed as yet ,
Mrs . LeBlond asked if Mrs . Sullivan was to be present at this meeting and
Mr. Volk said , yes .
Since she had not arrived, the C . I .P. was considered. The decisions that
had been made at the last meeting was discussed. Mr. Volk suggested that
in consideration of the financial unstability of the City , he felt it would
be wise to trim the proposed expenditures beginning in 1983 .
There was discussion of the proposed fencing of the ball fields in Sunrise
Park. Three fields will be fenced at an approximate cost of $5 ,000 . 00
each. This is proposed to be done in 1983 .
Mrs . Sullivan arrived and discussion of the C . I .P. was suspended.
Mrs . Sullivan presented her proposals for the development of Shenandoah
Park with discussion of the holding pond area as to size and location.
Mrs . Sullivan suggested that the Tot Lot be the only area fenced. She
also suggested that the ditch be broadened out in order to be less dangerous .
She pointed out the trike trial , unstructured ball field and some area for
parking. Mrs . Sullivan noted that this is not drawn to scale .
Mr. Schumacher asked if the holding pond could be used for a skating rink
in the winter and Mr. Volk felt it would make a beautifull skating area.
Mr. Volk asked Mrs . Sullivan to draw this park to scale - it gives him a
much better idea of where things are to go when he starts working in the
park. He would also ask that the configuragion of the park be noted on her
drawings .
On discussion the Country Lakes Park, Mr. Volk pointed out that there have
been several areas of historical significance found in the area and these
will have to be located before the roads can be located . The areas are not
to be disturbed.
Mrs . Sullivan will check with the Engineers and Mr. Karth on the exact
shape and size of the park in Shennandoah. She took the maps that were
available .
Discussion returned to the C . I .P. Mr. Volk reported that he had changed
some of the dollar figures and moved some of he planned expenditures forward.
The various expendiutures in the several parks were discussed as to their
priority rating and some changes were made in some areas .
Mr. Volk reported on the upgrading of Lake Drive by the Anoka and the
possible affect some of the drainage could have on Lino Park.
Mr. Volk discussed the proposed full time Park person that he hopes to have
on board by April . He felt this would be a fantastic addition to the
staff and also be of tremendous assistance to the Park Board.
