Park Board
March 2 , 1981
Page Three
Mr. Arntzen felt that the committment by Mr. Glenn Rehbein in that area
had not been met . This would include the final grading and seeding of th
park.
Mr. Volk said it was pretty well leveled off last year but the land got
too wet before Mr. Rehbein completed the work. Mr. Volk felt the land
would need to be reworked and then seeded. This park plan should be
on the April agenda.
Mr. Schumacher reported on the State Grant status . The ranking of the
City's LAWCON Grant Application as presented in 1980 was discussed.
Mr. Schumacher said that in 1981 there will only be State Funds
available .. . The .'application submitted this year will be approximately the san.
as last year except lowered to $'100,000.00. When questioned on the City 's
chances of receiving favorable action of this application , Mr. Schumache
said he felt there will probably be only three grants approved-at the City's
funding Level.
Mr. Arntzen asked how many would be submitted and Mr. Schumacher said
it would probably be on the same percentage basis as last year.
Mr. Scherer moved to recommend to Council that the application for State
Funds be submitted for Country Lakes Park Development and in the
application the Park Board had prioritizedthe items for funding as
follows; 1) bath house,2) access Road,3) parking lot ,4) boat access ,
5) beach and 6) landscaping. Mr. Volk suggested going through the plan - if there are
any questions , they can be discussed at that point . There was some
disucssion of the use of $4500. 00 for the development of a Tot Lot in
Shenandoah. There was adjustments in the totals pointed out by Mr -
Volk-the reversal of the development funds for Sunrise and Shenandoah - puttin
Shenandoah in 1982 and Sunrise in 1983 - the surfacing and fencing of the
tennis courts in Arena Acres plat - approximate cost $5800 . 00 for 1982 .
Mr. Johnson•:asked about Country Lakes Park - there is no mention of this
park in this plan.
Mr. Volk felt that if a grant is received, it would be a matching fund
program so there should be some funding for that park• Mr. Volk will
make some revisions of the C .I.P. to show funds for development of the
Country Lakes Park. It was suggested that $100 ,000 . 00 he added to the
plan for this purpose .
The various proposals in this plan should be prioritized, however, Mr.
Schumacher said this can be presented to the Council without this phase
being completed.
n Mr. Johnson moved to present to the Council the Park 's 5 year C .I.P . as
amended. Seconded by Mr. Scherer. Motion carried unanimously .
Mr. Arntzen asked if there were any plans for any type of pavilion in
any of the :Parks?
