September 2, 1980
Park Board
gage Three
Mr. Shaughnessy moved to recommend to the Council that $750 . 00 be
expended from the Park funds as their portion of the cost of this
piece of equipment for use in flooding the rinks . Seconded by Mr.
Foster. Motion carried unanimously .
There was discussion of getting a monthly report from the Police Depart-
ment on incidents concerning the Parks .
Mr. Schumacher reported on the LaMotte Park. Mr. Blackbird had re-
commended this parcel of land be Split in 3 lots . Mr. Schumacher said
that when land is platted as Parks , if it is not so used, it then is
returned to the developer. This was a decision by the Supreme Court .
Mr. Schumacher said he would like to get a copy of that decision before
this Board makes any decision on this land.
There was discussion on the Centennial and Forest Lake School District 's
summer recreation programs . Mr. Scherer felt this donation , if there
is to be one , should come from general funds . The general consensus of
some members of the Board was this request concerned working with these
committees on programs and the implementation of these programs , and
what could be offered to those committees as to what our parks can be
used for.
Mrs . Liljedahl reported on the donation of $300 . 00 from the VFW. The
Park Board will receive a check for this amount each month up to
$3600 . 00 per year. This money to be used only for improvements in the
Parks - not for capital outlay or maintenance. This money is to be put
into a special account and can be used as the Park Board sees fit .
Mr. Shaughnessy moved to send a letter of thanks to the VFW and offer
any cooperation that the Park Board can give, they will be glad to
/4ssist in any way they can . Seconded by Mr. Foster. Motion carried
unanimously .
There was a suggestion of using this first money for some piece of
equipment for the tot lot and put a small placque on this piece noting
that is was paid for by the VFW. The Park Board agreed to this action .
Mr. Schumacher reported on the ranking of 10th out of 27 LAWCON grant
application . The members asked for a copy of this ranking.
Mrs . Susan Sears will be moving and will be sending a letter of
resignation . The Council should take some action for replacing Mrs .
Sears .
Mr. Scherer moved to adjourn. Seconded by Mr. Foster. Aye .
