Page -2- April 17, 1978
barking Lot - City Hall Park
Mrs. Liljedahl suggested that the Board submit a more detailed plan of the proposed park-
ing lot.
Mr. Volk had prepared an estimate of the construction cost including blacktop, the estimate
was $4,800.00.
Mr. Zelinka suggested that possibly just the base could be constructed this year and black-
topped next year giving the base a chance to settle.
Mrs. Liljedahl suggested that the Board make a definite decision as to the location of the
parking lot. After further discussion, it was decided to locate the parking lot between
the two ballfields with the entrance off of Main Street. This would be a revision of the
plan prepared by the University Planners.
Mr. Johnson asked what would be done to keep cars in the lot and not on the ballfields. Mr.
Volk said he could get concrete balusters from Moline Concrete. These would be balusters
that Moline cannot sell .
Mrs. Liljedahl said that the Board would be looking at a price of $1 ,650.00 for a 50 car
lot approximately 65' wide and 225' long. This figure would cover granding and class #5
for the base.
Mrs. Liljedahl moved to recommend that the Council consider establishing a 50 car parking
'*-%'qot at an estimated price of $1 ,650.00 but not to exceed $2,000.00 to be located between
the two existing ballfields at City Hall Park. Mr. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion
declared passed.
Mrs. Liljedahl had written some notes as the Board reviewed the parks on April II , 1978.
Lino Park
- Lino Park need some grading, hole filling and grass especially near the entrance.
- Mr. Foster noted there was a large hump at the east end of the Park. After discussion
it was felt this could be leveled and compacted and replanted for this falls soccor use.
- Teeter toter should be replaced.
- Bumpers are needed for cars in parking lot.
- Suggested trash barrels be placed at the entrance.
- Snow fencing needed repair or replacement.
Sunrise Park
- Ice rink boards need another coat of paint
- Some boards on pleasure rink need repair so that they will not be a hazzard.
(Mr. Volk said that he will bring in a complete proposal for rink maintenance later in
the summer. He will also be hearing soon if and how many high school students he will
get to work in the park program.)
County Lakes Park
Mr. Zelinka suggested it might be wise to put in post at the boundaries to define the
park.
- Mrs. Liljedahl suggested that if feasibly, a few picnic tables could be placed in this
park.
- Mr. Volk said that the students would be brushing and cleaning on this site.
