July 18, 1977
The regular meet 4 g of the Lino Lakes Park, Recreation and Environmental Commission
was called to order at 8:00 P.M. on July 18, 1977 by Chairman Resch. Members present:
Resch, Olson, Gredvig, Scherer, Ringaman. Members absent: Averbeck and Liljedahl .
Mr. Schneider, Council Liason was also present.
Mr. Scherer moved to approve the minutes of June 20, 1977 as printed. Mr. Olson
seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Resch had no, report.
Mr. Schneider's Report
Mr. Schneider stated that Mr. Gotwald is looking into the possibility of trading
the present park area on La Motte Drive for another parcel of land in the same area.
The new parking lot in the northeast corner of Sunrise Park is nearly completed.
Old Business
Mr. Schneider noted that Mrs. La Fond was not aware of the road right of way to the
north of her property. He has obtained a copy of the 2 section map from the Office
and will show it to her.
Mrs. La Fond still has some problems with the park users but not as much as last
year and would still like a fence.
Mr. Gredvig said nothing more has been done about park land in Country Lakes. Mr.
Schneider felt the general feeling of the residents in his area is that they do not
have a firm convection of what they want except they would not like to see a lake
access near the homes.
Mr. Gredvig said he would like to write up a one page survey and distribute it to
the residents.
Centennial Hockey Assn. - Mr. Don Schackle and Mr. Duane Nordin
Mr. Schneider explained the reason the Park Board invited the Hockey Assn. to attend
this evening is to begin preparation for'-the City budget.
Mr. Schackle said the Assn. would like to see the lighting on both hockey rinks at
Sunrise Park brought up to standard. The Assn. feels grading is necessary on both
rinks and all boards repaired. The rinks should also be treated with weed killer,
both rinks need repair as does both doors on the warming house.
Mr. Schneider asked if the rinks and warming house were improved as requested, could
the City anticipate volunteer help this coming season again. Mr. Schackle said he
would ask this at the next Assn. meeting August 8, 1977.
Mr. Schackle said he felt that the snowblower used for cleaning the rinks was a waste
of money. What is needed is a good sweeper.
Mr. Ringaman arrived at 8: 15 P.M.
Mr. Schneider asked what the feeling is on the second rink. There is a question about
the expense of the second rink.
