Page -2- July 18, 1977
Mr. Ringaman felt that the City did not have adequate funds for lights for both rinks.
He also felt the north rink might be dismantled.
A pleasure rink at Sunrise Park was discussed. An attendant should always- be on
duty. There was some vandalism last year.
Mr. Nordin felt both rinks were used equally for hockey last season. The season ended
with 6 teams using them. He felt a small pleasure rink could be added beyond the dou-
ble doors of the hockey rink and then it could be cleaned at the same time as the
hockey rink is cleaned and could be supervised easier.
Mr. Gredvig suggested that Mr. Volk give the Park Board estimates on repairing both
rinks.
Mr. Ringaman suggested dismantling the north rink and putting the south rink in super
shape. He had talked to Mr. Koosman and he had agreed.
Mr. Scherer felt this situation pointed out the need to take cash in lieu of land
from City plat developers.
Mr. Schneider asked what is the Hockey Assn. opinion of this Citys sharing in the
cost of hockey. Mr. Schackle said that Lexington is not participating, Circle Pines
provides facilities and maintenance, Blaine porvides nothing, the School contributes
a rink but no maintenance.
Mr. Ringaman said he would be the liason for the Centennial Hockey Assn.
Mr. Schneider asked the gentlemen to ask the Hockey Assn. what the City could expect
from the Assn. Mr. Schackle said he would get back to the Park Board. The Board
thanked the gentlemen for coming this evening.
After further discussion the Board requested that Mr. Volk give them an estimate on
the repair of each rink separately. The repair includes bringing the lighting up
to standard for each rink, repair of the boards, doors on the rinks, doors on the
warming house (possibly metal ) , grading each rink and treating each one with weed
killer.
Mr. Gredvig moved Louse the $500.00 budgeted for a tot lot, and the $750.00 budgeted
for grading LaMotte Park for upgrading the hockey rinks at Sunrise Park. Mr. Scherer
seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Budget
The Board Members were asked to bring their suggestions as to what should be included
in the 1978 budget.
Mr. Gredvig asked where do we go from here on the plan for City Hall Park. Mr. Ring-
aman suggested that the tree and shrub planting could be started now. Mr. Gredvig
felt the parking lot at City Hall could be done in the spring.
Suggested Budget List:
Tractor, mowers
Mr. VoIks maintenance list
Satellites
