Page -2- June 20, 1977
Mr. Gredvig and Mr. Schneider will get together with local residents to determine how they
feel about a park.
Mr. Ringaman moved to table this issue until the Board receives further input. Mrs. Lil -
jedahl seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Schneider suggested it might be a good idea to have a Park Board member as liason to
the Planning and Zoning Board. Mr. Gourley, Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Board
had felt some of the past decisions had not been in the best interest of the City and there
should be more input from the Park Board.
Mr. Ringaman agreed to be the liason to the Planning and Zoning Board.
Mr. Schneider noted that the Park Board has not received a second bid from Mr. Mobley for
reconstruction of the barn at Sunrise Park.
Mr. Schneider noted that budget.time is approaching and the Board should bring in their
thoughts as to what should be included in the budget.
Mr. Gredvig noted that City parks are more suitable for organized sports and there is no-
thing planned for the individual . He suggested a jogging trail around the Lake.
Mr. Ringaman asked Mr. Schneider if he felt the budget will be going up this year. Mr.
Schneider said he felt the Council would be very strict this year so that a cash reserve
could be built up.
Mr. Ringaman noted there is a parking problem at the north east corner of Sunrise Park.
The public has been driving between the hockey rinks bypassing a fence to get to a picnic
area. He feels there could be problems with the septic system and waterpipes.
Mr. Gredvig suggested that Mr. Ringaman talk to Mr. Volk about cutting off traffic in this
area.
Mr. Ringaman suggested that a parking lot could be created at the north end of Sunrise Park
by placing some railroad ties to mark the parking area. After further discussion, Mr.
Ringaman moved to recommend to the Council that some ties be removed and placed to extend
the parking lot as far as possible with these materials and that Mr. Volk stay within $200.00
of expenses. Mr. Scherer seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
La Motte Park
The Clerk noted there is $750.00 in the budget for grading LaMotte Park. At one point the
residents of LaMotte Drive had offered to maintain the area if the City would grade it so
that it could be used.
Mr. Schneider noted that there had been some discussion of trading this piece of land for
another and felt this grading should be put off until this is resolved. Mr. Schneider
will contact Mr. McLean about this matter.
Mr. Scherer moved to adjourn at 9:35 P.M. Mrs. Averbeck seconded the motion. Aye.
