MENORANDUM Date: November 30, 1994 From: Marty Asleson To: Lino Lakes Park and Recreation Board Subject: Shores of Marshan II Discussion Kirk Corson from Hokenson Development wished to be on the Park Board agenda to revisit the concept plan. The reasons for this is there may be a reconfiguration of the plat, and the shoreland adjacent to the trail has been under discussion. At this time Kirk does not have data to support any changes to the original concept; he does however want to talk to you about proposed changes before anything else happens. The issue of the shoreland will be brought up in the sense of whether the Park and Recreation Board would support the idea of a publically controlled lake frontage. The issue of a canoe launch has been discussed. We have checked with Anoka County Parks and they would support the idea of a publically owned canoe access. The question of how this relates to park dedication is very nebulous at this time since Hokenson is still working on ^ development requirements with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. A public access canoe launch falls within the goals and objectives of our Comprehensive Plan under the section of Parks/Open Space Acquisition/Development and the Preservation of Significant Natural Resources. Please refer to page 3-3 of our Comprehensive Plan. This access would definitely be a good opportunity to make available to the residents as a whole a recreational opportunity using a significant Lino Lakes natural resource. Again, the details would need to be worked out at a future date if the Board feels it is worth pursuing.
