CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 1994
pea rock vs the cost to put in a new road, parking lot etc. He
asked what the cost would be to move the existing playground.
Marty thought it would cost approximately $1, 000-$2,000. Barry
said the had been in contact with the hockey association and they
are willing to help out with the labor for this project. George
stated that Marty should wait a month to see what Moline was
willing to do to help out. Marty said he would ask the Friends
of the Park to help out too.
F. Border Patrol/Inline Skating Rink: Marty said that Barry had
gotten a video tape on border patrol if anyone was interested in
watching it after the meeting. He and Barry indicated it would
cost approximately $4500 to purchase it. Barry went on to
describe the system and size. Marty said there was a possibility
of selling advertising space. The members discussed the pros and
cons with border patrol vs a permanent bituminous surface in a
hockey rink. It was decided they would prefer using a bituminous
surface rink because we could use the existing hockey lights and
did not have to move or try to keep track of where the system
was. Marty said he had talked to people about the life
expectancy of the bituminous surface and maintenance. He
estimated it would cost $4500 to $5500 for the mat. Members
asked Marty to get quotes on the mat so they had an idea of what
they were looking at. Pam said if inline skating became a
passing fad the rinks could be used as basketball courts.
G. Other Updates/Old Business: Marty said he was going to be
meeting with the police park patrol to discuss park rules and
regulations and he would give them our inspection forms and ask
if they could be filled out if they saw anything in the parks.
Members had questions about the park patrol. Barry suggested
they contact Police Chief Dave Pecchia to get their questions
answered. Marty also mentioned that Jeanne Keenow has completed
her CPTED training.
Marty told the Park Board that all the park trails have been
signed with standard signs designating them as city trails.
Woods of Baldwin Lake - Marty reported that the employees were
now working on seeding the park. All the playground equipment is
done and the grills have been placed. The fencing has not been
completed but he hopes to have it completed yet this fall.
Ken asked about a more equitable trail ordinance. Marty said
Michael Krech is working on a figure for projected housing
through the year 2010 so he can relate trail distances with
future housing. Marty said the new ordinance hinges on the
Mayors 2020 vision and the wetlands in Lino Lakes. It will take
7
