CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 1994
They also discussed the brochure and members of the committee
recommended the brochure be included in the city newsletter.
This is going to be done in the next city newsletter. Barry
explained the format that was going to be used in placing our
brochure in this document. There was also discussion on selling
advertising in the brochures. Barry said he had contacted other
park and recreation departments to see what they did about
advertising. He went over the pros and cons of this subject.
There would not be advertising in the first issue of the
brochure/newsletter. It will have to be addressed for the next
issue.
C. Friends of the Park: Joe discussed the last meeting of the
Friends of the Park Committee. He said the next thing the
Friends of the Park is going to be focusing on is donations and
grant criteria. They are working with Rice Lake Elementary
School because a donator said they would give money if part of it
was used at the school. Joe said they were working on a logo for
t-shirts. Marty reported that he and Diane Jensen met with
Moline Concrete and they are interested in starting a business
arm of Friends of the Park. They will go around to other
businesses and try to get them involved with this committee.
Moline is going to donate 12 concrete picnic tables to the City.
Moline is also going to go to their next board meeting and
discuss the hockey rink and building at City Hall Park. Marty
indicated that criteria letters had been sent out to the
neighborhood contacts and hoped to hear back from some of them in
the near future.
D. 1995 Goal Session Rankings: Marty explained that he took the
figures, totalled them and divided by 7 (the number of members)
to get an average and rated them 1-10 in priority. George said
he will write a letter for the council work session explaining
these are the Park Board goals for 1995 and discuss what was
accomplished in 1994 . Ken asked how close the dollar figures are
to what it is actually going to cost to do the projects. He was
wondering if we had to contract the work out if the dollar
figures would be close. Marty said he would have to prioritize
and then would deal with whether it had to be contracted or done
by City crews. He said that inspection of the parks on a regular
basis is going to have to be done. Sharon indicated that she
would be interested in working with a neighborhood group because
she is new on the board and not on any committees.
E. Shoreview Building/Hockey Rink: Marty passed out a cad
drawing of the possible layout of the rink and building at City
Hall Park. George indicated that location #1 was the best way to
go. He also thought it was a reasonable use of funds to move the
6
