had sent information packets to teams that had participated in 5-
player football for the last 3-5 years.
D. City of Shoreview Park Building Donation: Marty explained
that the building being offered was the same type building that
had been donated to the Park Board a few years ago and placed in
Birch Park. The last building had cost $2600 to move, the
concrete slab had come to $5522, and the footings were another
$3260. Additional costs included sewer and water installation at
$4346, electrical installation at $2 .30/ft, gas installation at
$3 .50/ft, and engineering costs of about $1000.00 . Marty told
the Board Members to keep in mind that if a site with stable
ground was selected we would probably not need footings. We could
probably eliminate most engineering costs if we used the same
footing and foundation plan as the last building. He also stated
that this building was closer to Lino Lakes than the last one.
Sharon wanted to know the size of the building. Marty said it
was a 26 ' octagon park shelter. Brian asked where the building
was to be placed. Marty thought City Hall Park was a good
location for this building. There was discussion on where it
could be placed in City Hall Park, the lighting of hockey and
skating rinks, if sewer and water were needed and if it should be
placed in another park.
George asked Marty to meet with the City Council and get
authority to use up to $10, 000 from the dedicated park fund.
Marty said he would talk to Jeff Schoenbauer and get his opinion
on where the building would fit into the comprehensive park plan.
NOTION: George made a motion to acquire the building and proceed
with getting a quote to move the building and place it on a slab.
AMENDMENT: George then amended the motion by asking Marty to
draw a layout of the park, place the building at a feasible
location, and bring it to the next meeting. Brian said the next
meeting was a month away and asked if the sketch could be mailed
to each board member. Motion and amendment carried.
Marty said he would talk to Jerry Haffman, City of Shoreview, and
get a time frame when they wanted the building off their
property.
NEXT MEETING: The Board set Monday, October 3, 1994 at 6:30pm
for the next regular Park Board Meeting.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 8:56pm.
6
