CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> ,�. PARK BOARD MEETING <br /> MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1994 <br /> The regular meeting of the Lino Lakes Park Board was called to <br /> order at 6:30 pm on Monday, February 7, 1994 by Chairman George <br /> Lindy at the Lino Lakes City Hall. Roll Call was taken, other <br /> members present were Brian Bourassa, Bob Williams, Ken Johnson and <br /> Joe Schmidt. Also present was Linda Elliott City Council liaison to <br /> the Park Board, Marty Asleson, Parks, Recreation and Forestry <br /> Coordinator, Barry Bernstein , Recreation Program Supervisor, Becky <br /> Dvorak, Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator and Carole Kohler, <br /> Department Secretary. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the January 11, 1994 Park Board <br /> meeting were approved with no corrections or additions. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING: At this time George Lindy opened the Public Hearing <br /> regarding the change in location for the proposed <br /> athletic/recreation complex as identified in the Comprehensive <br /> Plan. He read the Resolution Adopting a Minor Plan Amendment to the <br /> Lino Lakes Comprehensive Park Plan and Development Guide. (A copy <br /> of this proposed resolution is attached to the back- of these <br /> minutes. ) There were no comments from the public, after a five <br /> minute wait the Public Hearing was closed. <br /> OPEN MIKE: No one appeared under open mike <br /> ADA BUDGET UPDATE - Marty Asleson referred the board to the green <br /> sheet he prepared regarding his request for additional CDBG funds <br /> from the City Council to support Becky Dvorak's ADA budget. He <br /> pointed out that other sources of funding may have to be considered <br /> for ADA programs, such as shared services with other communities. <br /> Marty went on to explain that the purpose of this presentation <br /> tonight is so that the board is aware of where the monies for <br /> Becky's programs come from. <br /> Becky Dvorak explained that some cities have employee based ADA <br /> compliance committees and still other cities hire consultants to <br /> work with ADA compliance, which is very costly. Becky's position <br /> with the city is part time and paid for with CDBG funding. Becky <br /> commented that she has not had a lot of response from Lino Lakes <br /> residents in need of her services, but will continue to offer <br /> programs and advertise more in the spring. She says that most of <br /> our recreation facilities have to be made more accessible, and when <br /> that is done, we may see more handicapped participants. Marty will <br /> keep the board updated. <br /> FRIENDS OF THE PARKS - Marty Asleson explained how he handled the <br /> most recent donation of $5400 from the Lino Lakes VFW. It seems <br /> that the VFW, who had previously committed to a donation of $300 <br /> 1 <br />
