CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1994
per month, had stopped recently sending the payments. Marty
explained that he visited with the VFW representatives and
discussed with them the Friends of the Parks Foundation, the plans
to support park board projects and their need for funding to
support their programs, particularly those programs being designed
to accommodate persons with disabilities. The VFW is very much in
favor of the "Friends" and talked about regular contributions to
support playgrounds and the disability programs. At that time they
gave Marty a check for $5400 to make up for monthly donations they
had missed.
There are a few matters regarding the BYLAWS of the foundation to
address. One condition of the bylaws is that a member of the Park
Board must sit on the board of directors for the foundation. Since
Jacquelyne Farm will no longer be a member of the park board, Joe
Schmidt has volunteered to replace her on the foundation board.
Another matter is the spending of donations received. The bylaws
state that projects that the Friends of the Parks have funding for
have to have approval from the park 'board. Marty Asleson explained
that when he received the donation of $5400 from the VFW recently
he inadvertently turned it over to the "Friends" without first
discussing the donation with the park board.
George Lindy asked how the foundation determines priorities and how
will the board receive the funds from the foundation, what is a
"friends" project and what is a dedicated park project? Martha
Walmsley, recently appointed President of the Friends of the Parks
Foundation was in the audience. Martha explained that the board is
just now in the process of setting priorities and projects and
criteria. She will bring this information to the board at a future
meeting.
PINERIDGE 2ND ADDITION TRAIL DEDICATION - This is the second phase
of Rick Carlson's Pineridge development. The plan is for 18
homesites on 9.96 acres. The addition will run south from Coyote
Trail. Ted Mattke, engineer for the Pineridge development was in
attendance to present the park and trail dedication proposal for
the Pineridge 2nd Addition.
Mr. Mattke proposed park dedication for this development be in the
form of cash based on 8.29 acres of usable land. This acreage is
down from the total of 9.96 acres because wetlands are not
considered in park dedication. The dollar figure will be $8290.
Trail dedication will consist of a trail connection on the north
connecting into the Ware Road transportation trail and the
existing trail to the west to the park and then go north.
