CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1994
the Council, Mayor and Administrator.
Quarterly Report - The Parks and Recreation Quarterly Report from
Fall and Winter of 1993 was discussed. The report contains
information and final numbers concerning program offerings from the
past Winter and Fall. Also contained in the report is information
on time spent on various tasks and in certain parks this past year.
This should be able to help the board determine costs involved in
park development, etc. Marty Asleson explained that this is the
first attempt at tracking costs using our computers. Our computer
programs are not set up for this particular type of tracking, so
getting the information took a little longer than he had hoped, and
it may not be as accurate as it will be. One reason is that this
kind of reporting requires employees to chart their time in 15
minute increments, so it took some of the employees a few tries to
get into the habit. He explained that he hopes to get a more
sophisticated system to track project costs in the near future.
Brian Bourassa was pleased with the report, he thinks this
information could be used to compare profit and -1-osses and
ultimately increase efficiency. "Ae least it's a start."
Rice Lake Nature Group - This is a group comprised of students and
residents in the Centennial School District. Marty Asleson reports
that some professional people are getting involved now. He says
there's talk of a regional Arbor Day celebration next year. This
will get a lot of kids involved and be a fun project.
OPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) - This
program idea was to be presented and discussed by Jeanne Kenow,
Community Service Officer at tonight's meeting. Due to an illness
Jeanne had to cancel and will be available for this presentation at
next month's meeting.
ADJOURN - There were no other items of discussion. A motion to
adjourn was moved and seconded. A vote showed all members were in
favor. Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
NEXT REGULARLY SCHEDULED MEETING WILL BE ON MONDAY MARCH 7, 1994 AT
6:30 PM o
5
