PARK BOARD MEETING
August 6, 1990
Ray Johnson called the Lino Lakes Park Board meeting to order
at 7:00 p.m. at the Lino Lakes City Hall. Members present
were: Candy Toffoli, Bob Williams, John Bauman, Ray Johnson,
Ken Johnson, and Bill Nissen. Members Absent: George Lindy.
Also present were: Mayor Harold Bisel, Council Member Andy
Neal; Public Works Director, Don Volk; Superintendent of
Parks, Marty Asleson; and Planning Secretary, Laura Elken.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES: Bob Williams moved to approve the
July park board minutes. John Bauman seconded the motion and
the motion was approved unanimously.
CONSIDERATION OF PARK DEDICATION FOR WILLOW PONDS STEVE
JOHNSTON FROM MERILA & ASSOCIATES:
This parcel is owned by Dennis Erickson. It is better known
as the Townhome site, located between Elm Street and 35W.
Last month this item was tabled.
Steve Johnston approached the board. He is proposing a cash
dedication of $10,800 based on the 27 lot plat. A walkway is
proposed extending along the south border of the site. This
trail would allow the residents to reach Sunrise Park by
r traveling down one of the three short cul-de-sacs to the
trail on Elm Street, then to Sunrise Meadows on Mourning Dove
Road. They can then take this south through Sunnygage, then
to Sunrise Park.
Sunrise Park is just a half a mile south of Willow Ponds.
Marty Asleson stated that this is within the guidelines for
proximity of a park to a residential area. Marty added that
he feels the proposed dedication is a good choice. He said
that the amount of this cash dedication would cover most of
the cost of land adjacent to Birch Park. The board has
discussed obtaining this parcel. Marty suggested that this
money be used to purchase that 1 1/2 acre parcel.
Bill Nissen suggested that a cross walk should be installed
on Elm Street between the Willow Pond Trail and Mourning Dove
Road. Steve Johnston stated that it has been his experience
that this is not that difficult to obtain. The city would
formerly have to request a cross walk from the county. It
would amount to painting a cross walk on Elm Street and
signage. Staff will check with Anoka County regarding this
issue.
The park board viewed maps of Sunnygate and Sunrise Meadows
showing the street layout.
- Ray Johnson also asked that parking not be allowed along the
Page 1
