i
August 30, 1990
TO: PARR BOARD
FROM: DON VOLK
RE: PROPOSED ICE ARENA UPDATE
Dear Park Board Members;
The park board has asked a representative of the Centennial
Arena Committee to attend the September park board meeting.
The purpose is to be updated on the progress of the committee
in making an ice arena a reality in the area.
I would like to make a comment to the park board on this
issue. First, I do believe the park board should listen
closely to the presentation. Second, if the park board is in
favor of an ice arena, a positive statement of that nature
should be sent back to the Arena Committee. Third, I do know
that it is a concern of the park board that this facility
become a recreational asset to the area for all ice
activities, not just hockey. However, remember the park
board should make sure to promote the facility construction
first. If construction becomes a reality then programming
the use of the facility will be a concern of everyone.
Another thing to remember is, if the arena gets built, it
will be a centennial school district facility, not a city or
association facility.
In closing, at this point, I recommend that the park board
make positive comments and recommendations to make the
facility a reality.
Thank you, board members for your consideration to this
issue.
Thank You,
Don Volk
