PARK BOARD MINUTES
April 2, 1990
John Tenneson, 126 Egret Lane was present at the meeting. He
asked the board what is happening with the park at Rice Lake
Estates .
Don Volk explained that the city does have clear title to the
land. The problem is that two tennis courts will not fit on
the parcel .
When park dedication was claimed in Rice Lake Estates , a
neighborhood meeting was held, and the residents wanted a
double tennis court .
Mr. Tenneson stated that there are between 37 to 40 children
under 10 years of age within the development and the
development is only 50% completed.
Also Mr. Tenneson complained that there are two retention
areas between Sandhill and Blue Heron Drive that are a
nuisance. There is high grass and weeds , and it looks
terrible. He wanted to know who is responsible for the
upkeep of these areas . He suggested a fence be put around
these areas or that it be maintained.
The board discussed options for park dedication, the
possibility of installing a tot lot , possibly asking Circle
Pines to donate some land and together with Rice Lake Estates
install a tennis court on Circle Pines land, and other
considerations for park dedication in order to install the
tennis courts.
After discussion Marty and Don decided to meet with Mr.
Tenneson and his neighbors and talk about what the
neighborhood would like to see in Rice Lake Estates .
Don Volk stated that Rice Creek Watershed controls the
retention ponds, and that current land owner would be
responsible for maintence. Don feels this issue does need to
be addressed.
OLD BUSINESS
Ray Johnson asked about the city' s leash laws. He requested
a copy of the dog ordinance be brought to the next park board
meeting.
Meeting adjourned 9: 01 p.m.
Page 8
