PARK BOARD MEETING <br /> April 3, 1989 <br /> A major key to controlling the Pine Bark Beetle problem in <br /> the future is to thin pine trees in the city. Mike Hoffman, <br /> City Forester, will demonstrate to residents how to properly <br /> thin their trees . The problem the residents face is what to <br /> do with the trees that they cut down. The City hopes to <br /> purchase a wood chipper. The city could feasibly take the <br /> wood chipper to the residents and help them with disposal of <br /> their trees . <br /> ARBOR DAY UPDATE/DON VOLK <br /> An Arbor Day Celebration is scheduled for April 29, 1989. <br /> starting at 10: 00 thru 3: 00 p.m. This will be a rain or shine <br /> event . <br /> A flyer was presented for Park Board review. This flyer will <br /> be distributed to Lino Lakes residents in the Quad Community <br /> Press on the week of April 17th. Flyers will also be <br /> distributed at local businesses, and also at Lino Elementary <br /> where they will be handed out to children. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> The Park Board received a co of the check copy e given to the City <br /> of Lino Lakes for Park Dedication at Sunrise Meadows . <br /> Don Volk suggested that we use this money for Sunrise Park. <br /> Park Board will have the cost of running water to the park, <br /> and the possibility of running city sewer to the park was <br /> discussed. <br /> Don Volk stated there is a new concept in rest room <br /> facilities . This concept is a rest room facility that <br /> compost the refuse. Don Volk stated that this method <br /> requires no plumbing maintenance, is odorless and works well . <br /> Mr. Volk will. provide the park board with literature on this <br /> self contained unit . Mr. Johnson stated that many inner city <br /> parks are using this method. <br /> Don Volk stated that the Circle-Lex Lions Club wants to <br /> install a sound system into Sunrise Park. Discussion followed <br /> with concern regarding the noise from the speakers , the <br /> possibility of the noise becoming a nuisance to nearby <br /> residents . It was decided after discussion that the Little <br /> League would be using them, but the sound system would not be <br /> accessible to everyone. Bill Nissen was not in favor of the <br /> sound system, with the exception of its use at Sand Bur Days . <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> .,� Builders Day <br /> A Builders Day meeting is scheduled for April 13th. <br /> Architectual Awards will be given to two developers in the <br /> Page 4 <br />
